First is the space, full of questions. Time then appears. With time other things arrive, which still have no name.

Until we begin to pay attention.

Think of a cracked landscape. Think of its dimension.

Siringe is an experimental creation developed over a series of laboratory-meetings held in La Terminal FICC, an old rehabilitated factory on the island of Zorrotzaurre (Bilbao), between February and June 2021. This is a collaborative project between Blanca Arrieta, KLEM Laboratory of Electroacoustic Music and La Terminal FICC.

This work is an exploration of the dialogue between dance and music. A search of the interaction between these two disciplines by using reflection and play. The question is: what transcends the negotiation between the physical world and the sound world?

Siringe is also an encounter between languages. It is a work which brings together a team of artists with different temperaments, experiences and sensitivities. Within this mixture of voices we analyse the relationships between the body and sound in relation to the space.

The work is structured around three moments, each generating a different experience. Inspired by the poem Alphabet, written by the poet and essayist Inger Christensen, we work and play with words. The performers cross the space, map it, linking the body to the gesture, gesture to voice and voice to words. We sense progressive change, movement, while they lead us to the idea of landscape, in all its depth and complexity. From a single gesture to the complexity of a polyphonic landscape full of contrasts. Voice and gesture, initially disassociated, find their way to overlap, becoming a single body.

The entire sound space takes place in a hybrid place between the guttural and the intelligible sound. It is as if we were trying to decipher the initial codes of the language. For this we have analyzed the phonemes of Inger Christensen's poem trying to delve into the emotion that runs through the text, avoiding the intelligible and immersing ourselves in the emotion of its imaginary.

Music is a journey through the spaces prior to the construction of the word. A search for the essence of the text. For this we have focused the work on that moment in which the voice is formed, a moment before the word and that has an enormous emotional content. The stage soundscape combines acoustic saxophone with electronic arrangements.

Abstract in nature, this creation leaves a very powerful temporal and spatial impression. Moving away from representation, it pursues other ways of entering the poetic.

Siringe is a creation for alternative and distinct architectural spaces that allows an arrangement of the public around the scene. This work can be customised for each public presentation, each performance thus provides a unique experience for the audience. The work continuously evolves with each adaptation to the new space.
